5. The Lone Ranger

You wouldn’t expect a movie starring Johnny Depp to flop, but this 2013 movie makes it into the top 5 of biggest box office bombs. The movie also scored a measly 31% on rotten tomatoes, but that’s not why it’s one of the box office bombs.

The movie had a staggering $375 million price tag to produce and market and only ended up racking in $260.5 million worldwide, meaning it lost around $150 million for Disney.

4. John Carter

It’s one of the box office bombs that had some severe consequences for Disney.

As the movie cost around $450 million to make, its $284 million worldwide sales couldn’t even save it from disaster, causing Rich Ross to resign as Head of Walt Disney Studios.

3. The 13th Warrior

Antonio Banderas isn’t known for starring in box office bombs, but rather as a movie star that has some serious ticket-sales power. However, even he can’t escape making a flop of a film.

The 1999 movie, The 13th Warrior had a relatively modest budget of $120 million compared to some of the price tags on the production and marketing of other movies. However, it still managed to come in at a loss of around $60 million, having only managed to generate $61.6 million in ticket sales worldwide.

2. King Arthur: Legend of the Sword

This 2017, Guy Ritchie movie had the marks of a great movie in the making.

Unfortunately, it ended up being one of the biggest box office bombs of 2017. It is estimated that it cost Warner Bros. $175 million to make and market the movie, which bombed at a whopping $150 million loss. To add insult to injury, the movie only scored 29% on Rotten Tomatoes.

1. 47 Ronin

Opening on Christmas Day 2013 might not have been the best idea, or perhaps it was due to its $225 million budget.
