There was never much explanation given as to why the replacement took place, but speculation points to Lisa Robin Kelly’s struggles with addiction, which sadly ended her life in 2013.

Vivian Banks, or Aunt Viv as fans lovingly knew her, was one of the most devasting replacements ever. The role was first portrayed by Janet Hubert when The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air began airing in the 90s. The role was then later taken over by Daphne Reid. Hubert was apparently replaced by Reid because of Hubert’s on-going feud with the star of the show, Will Smith.
