Lets continue the fun from last week with the next 5 Netflix Originals to watch this week.
Easy (97% Average Tomatometer)
This Netflix Original from Director and Creator Joe Swanberg features an illustrious cast, including Jake Johnson, comic Hannibal Buress, actor Orlando Bloom, actress/model Emily Ratajkowski and actor Dave Franco. This comedy anthology explores the concepts of modern romance technology and culture.
There is a married couple trying to improve on a dwindling sex life, another couple trying to spice things up with a ménage à trois including another woman as well as middle-aged dating.
Fuller House (No Critics score on Rotten Tomatoes)
This spinoff had to be include despite it’s missing score on Rotten Tomatoes (though it must be noted that 73% of the audience have voted it 3.5 stars or higher) because who didn’t love Full House? Fuller House is the Sequel to the 1987–1995 television series Full House, centres around D.J. Tanner-Fuller (Candace Cameron Bure). D.J is a widowed veterinarian and mother to 3 sons.
D.J is back in her childhood home and living with her sister Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin), an aspiring musician, and life long friend Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber) that round out the remaining original cast members of the original show who all find themselves under one roof dealing with moments big and small together. Romances, holidays and tons of parenting and life surprises ensue. This one has been renewed for a 4th season.
Flaked (41% Average Tomatometer – but a 85% score by audiences)
Flaked is a dry, slice-of-life comedy about Chip, a celebrated long-time resident of the insular world of Venice, California who falls for the object of his best friend’s fascination. Soon the tangled web of half-truths and semi-bullshit that underpins his all-important image and sobriety begins to unravel. Will Arnett plays Chip, a man doing his honest best to stay one step ahead of his own lies. This one is also done.
W/ Bob & David (89% and Certified FRESH – and the people agree at 87%)
After being dishonorably discharged from the Navy Seals, Bob Odenkirk and David Cross are back serving our country the way they do best — making sketch comedy. The sketch show consists of 4 1/2 hour episodes plus an hour-long making-of special entitled “Behind the Making of the Scenes”. This one hasn’t been renewed, why Netflix? Why?
Lady Dynamite (96% Average Tomatometer)
This is the true story of a woman who loses — and then finds — her stuff. Lady Dynamite is a 12-episode half-hour comedy from Mitch Hurwitz (Arrested Development) and Pam Brady (South Park) starring comedian-actress Maria Bamford.
Based on what she has accepted to be “her life,” the semi-autobiographical, semi-surreal series is a truthful look at the highs and lows of Bamford’s life — as an actor on the rise, during her hospitalisation for bipolar disorder, and through her present life in LA, where she’s reached a middle ground and found love.
