We’ve been playing Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery for a few weeks now and this is what we think about the mobile game.

If you’ve played The Sims Mobile game before, then Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery will feel very familiar when you start off by creating your avatar. The details and customisation options for your avatar are very fun and created beautifully.

Once you’ve created your avatar you meet your first friend who will be your companion throughout the mobile game. As the Harry Potter franchise focuses to heavily on friendship, we thought it was a natural and awesome touch to add a constant companion in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. Other elements from the Harry Potter franchise also make it into the Hogwarts Mystery game like family secrets, the sorting ceremony, familiar characters, daring adventures, self-improvement, and discovery and all the magical things that fans of the franchise will love. If you’re unfamiliar with the franchise or you’re not a particularly big Harry Potter fan, then some of the magical geekiness will be lost on you, but Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery can also be enjoyed by non-fans.

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery has a fun storyline that will keep players coming back for more. As you progress in the mobile game, the story develops and more challenges and skills are unlocked. You’re guided through the first few stages of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, which makes the mobile game accessible to even casual mobile gamers and younger, more inexperienced players. The story also gives players options to choose from, which makes Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery feel more immersive and soon you’ll feel like you’re in the game.

In terms of design and presentation, you can’t fault Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. The mobile game looks beautiful, with a ton of detail going into every setting. Characters look very convincing and objects move naturally. Fans will delight in great references to the franchise placed throughout the game. The sounds and music in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is also fantastic, adding to the element of realness and making the player feel like she’s really at Hogwarts. What’s even better is that the game has a long life and you’re able to truly sink your teeth into it.


If you’ve ever wanted to go to Hogwarts, then Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is a great way to have that experience in a fun and immersive way. The mobile game might not be overly challenging, but the extremely detailed storyline and the cool way Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery progresses will draw you and your kids back again and again. Progression is always great and the microtransactions are a bit ridiculous. But if you’re looking for some magical adventure, then this mobile game will be rather satisfying for you.
