Stan Lee was the 95-year-old legend responsible for some of the most marvelous comic book characters ever created. As part of celebrating the man behind characters like Spider-Man, The Hulk, and Iron Man, Stan Lee cameos have become a standard in Marvel movies since the late 80s.
Sadly, Stan Lee passed away on 12 November 2018.
As part of remembering the icon, we chosen some of our favourite Stan Lee cameos through the years.
1989 – The Trial Of The Incredible Hulk
This is one of our favourite Stan Lee cameos, not because the movie was particularly good, but rather because it was the first of the Stan Lee cameos to continue through the years. In this made-for-TV movie, Stan Lee is briefly seen as a jury member during the trial of David Banner.
2002 – Spider-Man
One of the more heroic Stan Lee cameos. In the scene where Spider-Man and the Green Goblin are facing off, Stan is the man by saving a little girl from an explosion caused by the fight.
2008 – Iron Man
As Robert Downey Jr., made his massive comeback as Tony Stark aka Iron Man, Stan Lee also made sure his cameo was worthy of the moment. In the 2008 movie, Stan Lee is mistaken by Tony Stark as Playboy founder, Hugh Hefner. In the 2010 sequel, we’re treated to another one of the Stan Lee cameos where he is mistaken for someone else – this time for Larry King.
2012 – The Avengers
A very exciting time for the Marvel franchise, when a few favourites like Iron Man (Robbert Downey Jr.), Black Widow (Scarlett Johanson), Captain America (Chris Evans), and The Hulk (Mark Raffelo) come together. Stan Lee is seen on a news channel saying that the idea of superheroes is absurd.
2017 – Spider-Man Homecoming
It wouldn’t be a Spider-Man movie if it didn’t feature one of the Stan Lee cameos which were released as promos before the movie.
