We all knew the end had to come for Supernatural some time. But with this sci-fi/fantasy CW show lasting for 15 seasons, we hoped maybe that it could just go on forever. Unfortunately, things don’t work like that, and the show will end after being on the air for close to fifteen years.

The show’s stars, Jared Padalecki (who portrays the role of Sam Winchester) and Jensen Ackles (who portrays the role of Dean Winchester) made the announcement with Misha Collins (who joined the show in season 4 as Castiel) via an Instagram video.

We just told the crew that even though we’re very excited to be moving into our 15th season, it will be our last. 15 years of a show that has certainly changed my life, I know it’s changed these two guys’ lives, and we just wanted you to hear from us that though we’re excited about next year, it will be the finale.

The trio looked pretty emotional with Jensen Ackles saying that Jared Padalecki is “holding on for dear life“, with Jared Padalecki adding that

We’ve cried some tears and we’ll cry some more, but we’re grateful and we’re going to work all that emotion into next season.

The first episode of Supernatural aired on 2005, and since then 14 seasons have been made, with season 14 being released in October 2018. The 15th and final season of Supernatural has just begun filming and will consist of 20 episodes.

Are you sad that season 15 will be the last time you see the Winchester brothers doing supernatural things? Drop us a comment below and let us know.
