If you haven’t seen Avenger: Endgame yet, you’re one of the few ones who haven’t. The 22nd Marvel movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is turning previous records to dust and has now become the fastest film to make it to $2 billion.
Reaching the $2 billion mark has also moved Endgame up to the second highest grossing movie of all time, having made $2.2 billion since its 26 April release. This moves the 1997 James Cameron movie, Titanic down from its number two spot it’s been holding onto for years.
The movie has dominated box offices around the world, after having the biggest opening weekend in movie history. Avengers: Endgame managed to pull in more than $1 billion during its opening weekend, making it the first movie to ever reach the billion dollar mark on its opening weekend. It was also the fastest movie to have ever reached $1 billion dollars, and it’s only been out for just over two weeks.
The highest grossing movie of all time belongs to James Cameron’s 2009-movie, Avatar. Avatar has made $2.7 billion since the movie captivated audiences in 2009. But based on the current success of Endgame, it’s likely that Avatar will be losing its top spot as the highest grossing movie of all time, very soon.
Avengers: Endgame is the final chapter in phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s a climatic end for many story arcs and one of the must-see Marvel movies.
Avengers: Endgame is bound to become the biggest movie ever as it continues on its current epic trajectory. And as it continues to grow, the movie will probably take some more records along the way.
