There’s nothing like summer in Las Vegas.
The city that never sleeps goes on overdrive during the hottest months of the year, where the average temperature skyrockets to a high of 106° F (41° C) during July. A city in the desert, Las Vegas parties hard through the heat, all summer long.
Among its glamorous musical acts, which have included Celine Dion, Britney Spears and most recently, Academy-Award winning Lady Gaga, is a full-throttle rock scene with lots on offer. For music fans, tourists and locals, Las Vegas in the summer is the place to be, with local rock shows and big headline acts performing over July and August 2019.
Here are some of the hardest rocking shows you need to attend.
An iconic American rock band, Aerosmith is playing a series of dates in June and July at the Park Theater. The Aerosmith-Deuces Gone Wild residency will see Steven Tyler and Joe Perry playing some of their classic hits including Walk This Way, Dream On and Janie’s Got a Gun. In addition to Tyler’s awe-striking voice and Perry’s guitar prowess, the show features multimedia effects including big screen videos, lighting, and pyrotechnics.
This is a not-to-be-missed event for rock fans, old and new.
Las Vegas Elvis Festival
Held over 4 days in July, the Las Vegas Elvis Festival is a weekend festival celebrating the best of Elvis entertainment. The weekend kicks off with a reception in Roxy’s lounge, and consists of seven events including Shake Rattle and Roll, Elvis: 30 £1 Hits, Elvis: 2nd to None, Vegas: 50 Years On as well as a Grand Finale Concert, Special VIP Event and the Heart of the King Awards and Concert.
With entertainment and performances from the likes of Dean Z, Dwight Icenhower, Ben Thompson, Irv Cass and more, the Elvis Festival is a musical celebration of the King of Rock and Roll.
Elvis Costello and Blondie
Kicking off the August rock schedule, is a co-headlining appearance from Elvis Costello & the Imposters and Blondie. The 13-date US tour will make a stop in Las Vegas at The Pearl Theater at The Palms on August 1st.
Costello and Blondie both emerged from the late Seventies New Wave movement, and have previously collaborated on a track with American jazz group the Jazz Passengers. This historic co-headlining show is definitely one for the books.
Beck, Cage the Elephant and Spoon
In February, Cage the Elephant and Beck rocked their fans’ worlds with the announcement of a co-headlining North American tour.
Joined by main supporting act Spoon, the bands will be playing a 30-day tour across North America. They will be performing at Las Vegas’s Park Theater on the 19th of July. Beck features on Cage the Elephant’s new album, Social Cues, which was released on April 19th.
Third Eye Blind and Jimmy Eat World
For nineties rock fans, the Summer Gods Tour is not one to miss. Third Eye Blind and Jimmy Eat World are hitting the road together and play their second-to-last concert in Las Vegas at The Pearl Concert Theater on the 2nd of August.
Not convinced yet?
Third Eye Blind singer Stephan Jenkins said it best:
The most scintillating, inspiring collective moments of my life have been outdoors in the summer exploding with music… I seek to create that exact blissed-out state of aliveness on tour this summer.
Classic rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd have been delighting audiences across the country as of late. The Last of The Street Survivors Farewell Tour is an unforgettable night, and a last opportunity for fans to experience the Southern Rockers in person.
They make their Las Vegas stop on August 16th at the T-Mobile Arena with special guests, English hard rock supergroup, Bad Company.
