Apple unveiled its iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max yesterday and we have 11 things you need to know about the latest devices from Apple.
3 New Phones
Apple didn’t hold back this year. The tech giant is releasing the:
iPhone 11 Pro, and
iPhone 11 Pro Max.
No More X and R
As you can tell from the above naming, Apple has ditched the X and R naming and is back to numerically naming its iPhones according to the generation they are.
Cameras For Days
Apple came with the cameras in its latest smartphones.
One of the main design upgrades on the new devices are the cameras.
The iPhone 11 was introduced by Apple with an ultra-wide camera lens.
The Pro and Pro Max versions have a triple camera setup to take your smartphone photography to the next level!
All the rear-view cameras across the three devices, are 12MP.
All new colours are coming to the new iPhone devices.

No Daring Design Changes
Apart from the triple camera setup on the Pro and Pro Max versions and the new colour options, the designs of the three models of the new iPhone models haven’t been upgraded that much from last year’s models.
The new iPhone models are fitted with the new A13 Bionic chip, which, according to Apple, makes the new devices up to 20% faster than the predecessor models. The chip will be perfect for mobile gaming.
The new iPhone 11 models are available for pre-order from 13 September 2019, and will be released on 20 September 2019.
The South African iStore has stated that it will start selling the new devices from 27 September 2019.
Although South African pricing hasn’t been officially confirmed, the new iPhone 11, Pro, and Pro Max have been announced with the following pricing:
- iPhone 11: Starting at $699;
- iPhone 11 Pro: Starting at $999;
- iPhone 11 Pro Max: Starting at $1099.
Arcade and TV Updates
Apple has announced that you will get Apple TV Plus for free for one year when you buy the new Apple devices. The Apple TV Plus service launches later this year in over 100 countries, which includes South Africa. After your free year, you will have to fork out about $4.99 a month for the entertainment subscription service from Apple.
Apple Arcade, Apple’s gaming subscription service will also cost $4.99 a month.
A brand new 7th generation iPad was also introduced.
Starting at $329, the new iPad has a 10.2″ display and has support for all of the iPad accessories, like the Apple Pen.
It has a A10 Fusion chip, which Apple claims will deliver up to two times faster performance over the top-selling Windows PC.
New Apple Watch
Apple Watch Series 5 was also introduced.
