Spotify is a free, legal, cloud-based streaming music service delivered via desktop software with a nice social twist. A Swedish start-up with offices in London, it launched back in 2008 in Europe and now boasts around five million users and around six million tracks from the major labels as well as a ton of independents.
I heard last week that Blogger, the Google owned blogging service has been shutting down some pretty big mp3 blogs, maybe you know them, Pop Tarts Suck Toasted, I Rock Cleveland, LivingEars, and It's a Rap. If you click on any of these links you will notice the blog has been wholesale DELETED
At least that's what the "social media rock stars" told the audience at an event this afternoon hosted by the Recording Academy as part of its Grammy Awards festivities this weekend. Panelists included Pete Cashmore of Mashable, Kevin Rose of Digg, David Karp of Tumblr and actor-musician Jared Leto.
