Call of Duty Black Ops smashes records
The world’s biggest gaming franchise has done it again, topping their previous best and becoming the biggest entertainment launch in history.
Launched on November 9th in North America and the U.K. with massive ad campaigns that spread across gaming websites, billboards and television ads, Call of Duty – Black Ops has officially smashed the record set by the previous instalment Modern Warfare 2. The record was $310 million which was held by Modern Warfare 2, however Black Ops has cruised past that to rake in $360 million! In terms of actual copies sold, Black Ops outsold MW2 by 900,000 with a total of 5.6 million in just one day.
Activision is hailing this launch as the “biggest launch in entertainment” surpassing the opening weekend set by the film Avatar last December.
