15-Year-Old Foursquare User First to Check in at the North Pole
It’s spring break. What do I do? Fifteen-year-old Parker Liautaud used his holiday to ski to the Last Degree of the North Pole and compete to be the first to check in there. Something he will be forever remembered for, the first person to check in at the North Pole and unlock the Last Degree badge on Foursquare.
The cheesy Foursquare expedition, documented via Facebook and Twitter, was for a good cause. Liautaud set out to inspire young people to “build a more sustainable future.”
According to Twitter updates , Liataud faced “insurmountable conditions” and couldn’t get to the pole on skis as he originally intended. The Eton College student apparently reached the Last Degree via helicopter, though he’s still credited with the first checkin.
